It appears however, that the “Alabama Shakes” could not save the SNL episode, which the publication and other media reports call one of the “weakest” episodes of this season. Some newspaper accounts focus their disappointment on the “german” aspect of the show, opining that Oscar-winner Christoph Waltz’s hosting would have been better “if the show had been in German.”
Waltz announced that he was the first German-speaking host in the show’s history and the Orlando Sentinel had this to say about the episode,
